creative branding mood board

Creative Branding

For this unit of my styling course, we were asked to turn our last name into a personal brand by using a font and colors that reflect our identity, alongside our favourite city, song, an inspiring figure, and fashion influencers that embody our style. My mood board is an attempt at showing my aesthetic as I see fashion as the strongest form of self-expression. My first business out of university was setting up a fashion styling business (huge deal for an engineering major), which served mostly friends and family. It grew into a successful little side-hustle, went as far as styling a Grammy-award winning artist, but eventually left it all for a corporate career. I'm now tracing my way back to that passion and might just go all the way.

Typeface: Gilroy
Clean, minimal, versatile and great for branding. It’s my favourite font because I appreciate clarity, subtlety and modernity without being too squiggly.

Favourite Colours: Elm Green #939474 and Wisteria #BDB5D5
Favourite City: London, England has a certain charm, a mix of the old and new, and will always be special to me.
Favorite Song: I Wonder by Kanye West. He’s my favourite musician alive.

Notable Figure Oscar Wilde - I love how he blended wit with wisdom in a way that still felt relevant to his time and still valuable today. His words challenge conformity, celebrate individuality, and remind me that beauty, humor, and truth can coexist, and the greatest form of art is being unapologetically yourself.

Fashion Influences
Karla Deras - I’ve loved her style since the blogspot days.
Teyana Taylor - Bold, kinda dark, eclectic, and androgynous (my style in five words).
Jenna Fucking Lyons - Former creative director of J. Crew, a fashion brand which I love. She makes you rethink all your fashion choices with her brilliant mix of casual, preppy and classy pieces. She’s also really good at layering outfits and please don’t get me started on those glasses.
Minju Kim - An amazing Korean designer, whose design eye resonates with me because of how timeless her pieces are.
